Stash Report #5

It’s that time again! I was good this week.
Well, kinda. šŸ˜‰
I used fabric, had a few finishes, but I did add a bit of yarn. In my defense – it was a bargain I couldn’t pass up!

Fabric Used (or removed) this Week: 1 yard
Fabric Used year to Date: 7 1/3 yards
Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added Year to Date: 8.5 yards + 3 panels
Net Fabric for 2017: 3 panels ADDED + 1 3/8 yards USED
Iā€™m not sure how to count the panels so I figured Iā€™d just keep them listed separate from regular yardage since most of the time they are less than a yard.

The yard of fabric I used was the heavy denim I used to make my little girl’s skirt that I shared the how-to for on Tuesday. It’s not quite done in the photo. My bff is adding an embroidered unicorn on it and then once I get it back from her I’m going to add some decorative, big running stitches in a corresponding thread. (Plus I have to wash it so the elastic will go back to normal – it’s stretched out in the photo from sewing it.)

Instead of tossing the leftover bits into my scrap drawer/tote, I had an idea in mind for a mini quilt and I cut the remnants into strips right away. Now to find the perfect fabric in my stash to go with it so that my vision can come to life. And, since I must use it all up – the little strips on the left are going into my small scrap bin that I use for applique and the tiny bits on the right are going to be saved to be used as stuffing. See – that’s what I mean by I can’t throw away even the smallest of the scraps. LOL

Yarn Used (or removed) this Week: 200 yards
Yarn Used year to Date: 1,420 yards
Yarn Added this Week: 910 yards
Yarn Added Year to Date: 2,954 yards
Net Yarn for 2017: 1,534 yards ADDED

The yarn I used was for the tops of the 4 dresses I’m making for my little girl. I finally got a battery for my scale and weighed it. šŸ™‚

The yarn I added was 3 skeins I found at the flea market when my bff came over and we went out for a girl’s afternoon to a Mexican restaurant for lunch, then to the flea market and thrift store to waste time (& money). I spent less for those 3 skeins than I would have spent for 1 cheap skein at Wal-Mart.
She threatened to tell on me if I didn’t include these in my weekly report. ROFL (pssst -hey bff – ya know I love ya!)

I’ve actually started using up another piece but it’s not finished yet so I’ll share when it’s finally all done hopefully today or tomorrow.

What about you? Have you used up or added to your stash this week?

  1. Yep, I’ll tell on you! All in good fun. Did you count that re-purposed shirt you crocheted? That should be on the report toward the used it up side.
